Miraidon Builds for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

Miraidon has the Speed and Special Attack to put immediate pressure on a battle, but the rest of the set still matters. Its item changes how freely it can switch moves, while its nature and Tera Type decide whether it leans harder into damage or covers a bad matchup.

This guide gives you a straightforward Choice Specs build for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, plus a few alternatives when that set does not suit the rest of your team.

Which format is this Miraidon build for?

This is a doubles build for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. The game’s final Ranked Battles season, Season 41, uses Regulation I until online service ends. Regulation I allows up to two restricted special Pokemon on a Battle Team, and Miraidon is one of them.

Premier-level official VGC events now use Pokemon Champions. The current VGC handbook still assigns local VGC Cups and Challenges for the rest of the 2026 season to Scarlet and Violet. Use this set for Ranked Battles or an event that specifically names Scarlet and Violet as its platform. Check the event rules before entering a tournament. This is not a Pokemon Champions build.

Miraidon base stats and ability

Hadron Engine creates Electric Terrain when Miraidon enters battle and raises its Special Attack while the terrain is active. That makes Electric moves the natural starting point for most Miraidon sets. Electro Drift gets another power increase when it hits a target for super-effective damage.

Choice Specs gives Miraidon more immediate damage, but it can use only one move until it switches out. Electro Drift is the main Electric attack. Draco Meteor provides a powerful Dragon attack when Electric damage is a poor fit. Volt Switch deals damage while moving Miraidon out, which lets you reset the Choice lock and bring it back later. Dazzling Gleam gives the set spread damage and works well with Tera Fairy.

Timid is the safer nature when you want Miraidon to use all of its base 135 Speed. Modest adds more damage, but the lower Speed can matter against fast opposing Pokemon. Consider Modest only if the rest of the team supplies dependable Speed control.

Other held items to consider

Choice Specs is not the only workable item. Pick the item after deciding what Miraidon needs to do for the team.

• Assault Vest: Adds special bulk and still allows Miraidon to change moves. The set must use four attacking moves.
• Life Orb: Boosts damage without locking Miraidon into one move, at the cost of recoil after each successful attack.
• Choice Scarf: Trades some damage for extra Speed. It can help against faster matchups, but it keeps the same move lock as Choice Specs.

Moves you can change

The four-move set above is a clean starting point, not a rule. Protect is useful on a non-Choice set when Miraidon needs to wait out a turn or let its partner act. Discharge can fit a team built to handle or benefit from spread Electric damage. Overheat can pressure some Steel targets, although its Special Attack drop makes the next turn weaker.

Make changes for the team around Miraidon. A damage calculator and a few practice games will tell you more than copying a set without checking its matchups.
