Isle of Armor: After Action Report
It’s been a week since the launch of Pokemon’s Isle of Armor DLC, and we wanted to talk a little about our experience, what we’ve learned and how we’ll improve further.
As expected, we had a major spike in orders that was 6x of normal load, 3x of the previous peak in March with Pokemon Home’s release, and 4x of the peak last November with Sword and Shield’s original release. Unlike the previous times, we had greatly optimized our strategy – through additional hands, automation, and algorithms – to be scalable. This held up, for the most part.
Isle of Armor: New and Revised Listings
We’re nearly at the end of Day 1 of our Isle of Armor coverage. What a day, we’ve essentially traded for 15+ consecutive hours with really little breaks.
Here are the updates to the website, with new listings and several changes to previous ones:
Isle of Armor Updates: Teambuilder v4.0
Howdy! The Isle of Armor DLC has just dropped (a little over an hour as of this post). We’re pleased to announce that the Rawkhet Pokemon Teambuilder has just been updated to v4.0, with support for the new Pokemon (Kubfu, Urshifu, and Zarude), returning Pokemon, new abilities, and new moves. Easily generate your Custom Pokemon!
Trade Queue 101
We ran a technical piece on how the Trade Queue is implemented some time ago, and while it’s explained in pieces around the site we’ve decided to have one main post detailing exactly how it works. This is purely a supplemental reading piece, and most orders complete fast and fine without needing this information.
Rawkhet uses two queues to manage orders. They are the Preparation Queue and the Trade Queue.
Squeezed In Teambuilder Updates
Alright, it turns out we had some extra features we wanted to squeeze out before the Isle of Armor DLC hits. The Rawkhet Pokemon Teambuilder has been updated to v3.7, making Custom Pokemon even easier to build!
Our Pokemon Are Correctly Named
In the past few weeks we’ve suddenly had a bunch of customers who wrote additional requests for their Pokemon to have “no nickname” or “named as their species”. We’d never seen this before, and realized there’s probably some goof out there selling or distributing Pokemon with their name as the Pokemon’s nickname as an advertisement.
We don’t do that here.
That’s just weird! We ended up doing some research (having received one of said Pokemon), and found them selling Custom Pokemon at 7 USD each. Yeah, no. Rawkhet sells Custom Pokemon at 2 USD each and we have the most streamlined process out there.
New Listing: All Past-Gen Legendaries for Pokemon Home
We have a new listing available for Pokemon Home (finally)! The All Gen 1-7 Legendaries for Pokemon Home listing encompasses just the Legendaries from the Living Dex package. This is great for trainers who don’t need all the Pokemon and just want those hard to get legendaries.
All possible forms for Home are also included to help unlock the Pokedex.
Major Teambuilder Updates
A major update for the Rawkhet Pokemon Teambuilder is now live, bringing the version to v3.6. The Teambuilder is used for Custom Pokemon purchases and allows us to automagically churn out your dream Pokemon in seconds. Between v3.5 and v3.6, the Teambuilder was mostly rewritten.
Competitive Set Refresh
We’ve updated some of the Pokemon Sword and Shield packages on the site to reflect changes in the competitive landscape. These listings now have the latest Smogon competitive sets, for your battling pleasure:
- Galar Starters Trio (updated from HA announcement)
- Galar Evolved Starters Trio (updated from HA announcement)
- Gigantamax Package
- Galarian Forms Package
- Galar Fossil Package
Hidden Ability Galar Starters Now Available!
With their release on Pokemon Home, the Galar Starters – Grookey, Scorbunny, and Sobble (with their evolutions Rillaboom, Cinderace, and Inteleon) can now be obtained with their Hidden Abilities!
- Grookey’s line gains Grassy Surge: Turns the ground into Grassy Terrain when the Pokémon enters a battle.
- Scorbunny’s line gains Libero: Changes the Pokémon’s type to the type of the move it’s about to use.
- Sobble’s line gains Sniper: Powers up moves if they become critical hits.
The Galar Starters Trio and Galar Evolved Starters Trio listings have been updated to use their Hidden Abilities, and updated competitive sets. Restrictions on the Teambuilder for Custom Pokemon have also been lifted.
