Get a team based on Naoto Mizobuchi’s team, used to secure his Rank 1 win in Series 1 of SV’s VGC Doubles.
Tatsugiri-Stretchy
The first half of one of the most brutal combos seen in Series 1. Scarfed Icy Wind on turn 1 together with Gholdengo’s Make It Rain can be quite deadly.
Dondozo
Second half to the Tatsugiri pairing. Dragon Tera maximizes the damage output of Order Up, and also resists common answers to the more common Ground/Water Tera Dondozos in the meta. Substitute protects Dondozo from Amoonguss’ Clear Smog and also protects Dondozo while it sets up with Order Up. When using Order Up with Tatsugiri-Stretchy, Dondozo gets a speed boost. This turns it into a really effective physical sweeper.
Meowscarda
Opting for the Focus Sash Overgrow variant over Protean Dark Tera, the main strategy is to Grass Tera and get a sashed Flower Trick off. Toxic Spikes helps a lot with Dondozo mirror matchups.
Gholdengo
Standard Gholdengo items and spreads, with Steel Tera to maximize Make It Rain damage. Trick is interesting because its more popular in Singles. This can catch opponents off guard by swapping items with a physical sweeper or Pokemon that need their item to shine.
Volcarona
The main counter to physical attackers and enemy Gholdengo. Flame Body and Rocky Helmet answers Population Bomb Mausholds really well – each hit will activate Rocky Helmet, and has a chance to activate Flame Body. Having a base 135 in Special Attack means Volcarona will still do respectable damage with Overheat without much investment in EVs.
Baxcalibur
Steel Tera covers Baxcalibur’s Dragon/Steel/Fairy weaknesses. Glaive Rush with Dragon Fang OHKOs most Pokemon in Series 1. Mainly used to pick up big knockouts and survive as long as possible while having a defensive Tera type.
